What we achieve

Our CARBON 4 SOIL QUALITY project is dedicated to the development of sustainable soil management techniques that mitigate climate change by sequestering atmospheric CO2. We will develop a strategy and toolbox for carbon farming, ready to be tested in 5-7 different territories.

Toolbox for carbon farming

    • Catalogue of soil organic reference values;
    • Methodology for organic carbon analysis and soil quality monitoring;
    • Guidelines for carbon farming techniques,
    • Carbon farming business models;
    • Recommendations on agriculture carbon credit schemes and environmental certification systems.

These tools are designed to empower farmers and agricultural advisors, enhancing soil resilience and productivity across various Mediterranean climates. Our results promise a dual benefit: improved soil health and a significant reduction in atmospheric carbon, contributing to the European Green Deal and global climate goals.
