On 2–3 July 2025, the consortium of the Carbon 4 Soil Quality project met in Riccione, Italy, for its third transnational project meeting. Hosted and organised by project partner RI.NOVA, the hybrid meeting brought together representatives from all partner institutions.
The agenda included key updates and discussions across several work packages. Highlights were:
- A comprehensive review of carbon farming techniques suitable for the Euro-MED region;
- Progress on developing socio-economic models and carbon credit schemes for farmers;
- Finalisation of training materials for knowledge transfer and future uptake;
- Planning for the final project conference and contributions to the EU Carbon Farming Initiative.
The meeting also featured a joint session with the Interreg Central Europe project Carbon Farming CE, focusing on synergies between the two initiatives. Presentations and discussions explored real-world experiences with carbon farming, multiscale methods for soil carbon measurement, and opportunities for knowledge exchange.
On the second day, participants visited Enomondo-Caviro and RI.NOVA’s experimental farm in Cesena, where they observed practical examples of soil improvement and carbon farming in practice.
The consortium confirmed strong progress across all activities and discussed next steps towards the final phase of the project.
